Cleveland Bay Horses
Here at Wilder Grace, we are passionate about preserving this amazing breed and bringing their talent to the forefront. Many competitive English riders opt for the more well known breeds such as the German Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds. Although we advocate for ALL breeds of horses and know they are all talented, we wanted to have a special place on our farm for the Cleveland Bay, and offer a learning environment for others to come and see how great they truly are. The Cleveland Bay is a RARE breed that is on the Endangered Breed list with only 200 purebreds in North America! Cleveland Bays were originally cart horses, fox hunting and jumpers that originated in Yorkshire, UK in the 17th century. Their beautiful blood bay coat colour is how they got their name, as these horses can only be registered as purebreds if they are born with the bay colour and limited white markings.

Mission
Our mission is to work carefully with our veterinary team and have a Cleveland Bay breeding program that will produce hardy, show quality horses. Our goal is to bring light to a breed that has almost gone extinct! We want to show fellow horse lovers that not only are they are an amazing addition to a family, but that they can also compete at top level alongside other more well known breeds. Along with the fact that they are extremely docile, they are also very easy keepers, and acclimate easily in several different terrains and environments. They are great candidates for all types of riding - everything from trail riding, dressage, eventing and fox hunting.
Vision
Our vision is to significantly help grow the Cleveland Bay numbers in North America. We would love to see more of them competing in show rings across America, especially within our local community in Nashville. Cleveland Bays are just as capable as any other breed, and they deserve recognition! Seeing more Cleveland Bays in 4H and Pony Clubs would be a dream come true, as they make great horses for children, and are commonly referred to as "Gentle Giants" due to their calm nature and large size. We truly believe that our love and passion for this breed will be contagious and can't wait for our community to come out to our farm and visit our special horses during one of our Discovery Camp events!
